At LapelGuard we recognize that privacy is important and we are committed to protecting your privacy rights (Policy). We use the information we collect about you to process orders, improve the content of the website and to provide a more personalized and custom tailored experience. We may also use it to periodically inform you about changes, new updates, new products, and new services available on our website. We never did and never will sell or rent your personal information to others.

1. Information we collect and how we use it

Information you provide – when you sign up to LapelGuard, we ask you for personal information (such as your name, email address, account password, we may also require your date of birth, gender, mailing and billing address, zip code). When you register and start your free trial, we also request credit card or other payment account information which we maintain in an encrypted form on secure servers. We may combine the information you submit under your account with information from other LapelGuard services or third parties in order to provide you with a better experience and to improve the quality of our services.

LapelGuard collects user submitted information mentioned above  (name, email address, etc…) to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to the LapelGuard service. LapelGuard also logs non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage,  improve the website services and the quality of user experience on the website. We may use the information you provide to notify you of new product releases, service notifications, events and to solicit your feedback and input. We may send you marketing materials and our Newsletter, unless you notify LapelGuard that you do not wish to receive such materials. Please contact us to request that you not be sent any or all of such information. 

Privacy – we will never share your personal and billing information such as email, name, address & credit card information with any partner or third party. LapelGuard reserves the right to use your information for marketing purposes if consent is given. 

Use of Cookies – LapelGuard uses cookies to store visitors’ preferences and to record session information, for purposes including ensuring that visitors are not repeatedly offered the same advertisements and to customize newsletter, advertising, and Web page content based on browser type and user profile information. We may, if we choose, link the information we store in cookies to personally identifiable information you submit while on our site. You may be able to configure your browser to accept or reject all or some cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Activity information – in order to provide you with the best possible service and to allow us to make certain internal reports and recommendation, we collect aggregate information about the use of the website. IP address – an Internet protocol (IP) address is a number that’s automatically assigned to your computer whenever you’re surfing the Web. We may retain your IP address in order to help us diagnose problems with our servers, to administer LapelGuard website, to help identify you, to gather broad anonymous demographic information, to enforce compliance with LapelGuard terms and conditions, or otherwise in order to protect our services, sites, customers, or others.

Log information – when you use the website, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, IP address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.

Links – LapelGuard may contain links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of our website.

LapelGuard also contains links to sites. LapelGuard is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on LapelGuard.

Third Party Advertising – LapelGuard currently (February 2019) does not offer third party advertising and it does not intend to start doing so. If it does so in the future, then : Ads appearing on this Web site may be delivered to users by LapelGuard or one of our Web advertising partners. Our Web advertising partners may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad servers may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by LapelGuard and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

2. What does LapelGuard do with the collected information?

We may use your personal information for the purposes described in this privacy statement and/or privacy notice for specific services. Such purposes include, but are not limited to:

– verifying your identity;
– providing our products and services to users, including the display of customized content and advertising;
– sharing information to our business partners who perform core services (such as hosting, billing, data storage, security and reporting services) related to the operation of LapelGuard and its service;
– collecting and processing information about your actual location to provide location aware content, services and products;
– following up with transactions initiated on the website;
– auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve our services;

Accessing and updating personal information – when you use the LapelGuard website, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it’s inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it’s not otherwise required to be retained by law or legitimate business purposes. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical. If you are unable to locate where to edit or delete any of your personal data, please contact us immediately.

Changes in Our Privacy Policy – From time to time we may make changes to our privacy policy. If we make changes, we will post them on our site to make users aware of what the changes are so users will always be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and when we may disclose it. A User is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted. If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify by posting a notice on our Website for 30 days.

Users under eighteen (18) – LapelGuard’s content is not directed at users under 18 years of age, and if you provide information about yourself as a user of LapelGuard, you are representing that you are at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 18 years of age, but if we do become aware of having collected personally identifiable information from a user who is younger than 18 years of age, we will permanently remove such information from our files.
